Morning warmup sketch...

So I was poking around on Rotten Tomatoes.com and saw this new design for Whiplash. I suspect it won't really look like that in the movie but I thought it was kinda cool anyways. My sketch isn't much different from the original but it was fun as a warmup before I get to work.

SENTRY....

So I've been told to update, so I'm updating. I've been super busy for a while now and just feeling too drained to draw anything for myself. Storyboarding is a good gig but it takes a lot out of you. However, it's now spring and I'm feeling a bit more energized and inspired to draw some more. This is one of a few new quick digital sketches that I've done over the last few days in between working for a living. If anyone is actually looking at these posts, feel free to let me know how you're liking the work.

Peace

It's been a while...

It's been a pretty busy summer storyboarding for 6Teen and getting ready for our big end of summer move into the new house. I haven't been drawing otherwise at all. but I plan to get back to drawing for myself more now that we're settled in. Today is the first of hopefully a more regular post. Dr Doom is inspired by the great John Byrne and the second was a very quick sketch and ink of the Abomination!! Hope ya like.

Digital Inks...

A buddy of mine asked me the other day, if I did inks on any of my drawings. The answer was a definite no. The lines have to be too perfect and I don't have a super steady hand. Besides that, I never had any ambitions of being an inker for comics. Funny enough, I think you can learn an aweful lot by inking(or cleaning up) another artists work. That said, I don't do it and so I end up being a slow learner. I chose The Thing to try my first digital ink job. I figured that his texture allows for a more forgiving line and therefore it was less intimidating to take a shot at. Let me know what you folks think.

The Saturday sketch...

This is becoming a regular thing. This is my relax time so it's been cool to just sit and enjoy drawing for myself. Had a great 65th birthday party for my Mom this afternoon with the whole clan. It's always great to get together with the family and have a few laughs. A truly wonderful group of people that I'm glad to have as my family.

Puny Human...

Had a bit of fun taking a break from cleaning up my latest storyboard for 6Teen. This sketch is sort of a take on a classic Bruce Banner/Hulk pose.

Saturday night sketch...Wolverine again.

Because he's cool, that's why. So there I am, late on a Saturday night trying to do a sketch and thinking that I'm kinda likin' it. Then I step back from it for a second and realize...crap. I've pinched most of the pose from someone else's drawing. Earlier in the day I had been looking at a Ken Lashley drawing from his blog. So, I gotta give the credit to the big guy for this one. He's a phenomenal talent whose work I have the greatest admiration for. Check out his blog link if you're reading this. I still like this Wolverine though. Hope anyone else that looks at it likes it too.

Wolverine...

Here's a Wolverine sketch that I finally got around to cleaning up this weekend. Took about an hour and a half, rough and clean.
