Venom...To warm up my day.

Boy oh boy, life will throw you some curve balls every now and then, just to snap you awake and make sure you're paying attention. They can also smack you into unconsciousness when you can't duck out of the way. The problem is there's work to be done and many, many panels to be drawn...and I sure haven't felt like doing them. Trying to gear up for the rest of the day to be a productive one, I did this quick Venom sketch to get things going. Also an old Scorpion design I found. Hope they're liked.

Finally felt like drawing something that wasn't work related...

It's been a while since I really felt any itch to drawing anything just for the fun of it. Work has been heavy but that really is always a good thing. It's when work isn't that you start to worry! Other animation professionals can relate;)
So last night I did the Superman and Wolverine sketches when I didn't feel like storyboarding anymore. The Robin sketch was this morning as a little drawing warmup.

I have no idea where I got the energy to do this tonight. Working like crazy to meet deadline and when I felt like I just couldn't go anymore on my work...I end up drawing my favorite green behemoth!! I guess there's always a little extra gas in the tank for something you love;)

Today's warm up sketch. I've never drawn Spider-woman before, which isn't very surprising since I've rarely ever drawn woman period! For not having practiced them that much, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Still a long way to go though. A very long way! I hope it's liked.

Break time sketches...

This was done a little while ago. Really like the feel of Sketchbook Pro when I'm drawing digitally. It's the only program I've used that comes closest to feeling like a regular pencil. If anyone has any other favorite programs they like using, let me know. I'd be interested in trying them out.

Run, Jugger, Run...

"Post-it" thumbnails...couple minutes or less for each.

For this post: Some times, there just isn't much time for anything else besides quick sketches on 'post it' pads. I like doing these bacause it keeps me from worrying about having to be "perfect" with every detail of what I'm drawing. Plus, it only takes a few minutes and if the pose really sucks, I don't mind tossing! It's far more depressing if you've spent a lot of time on a drawing and then the next day, you look at it again and think, wow that's really crappy!! No artistic heartbreak with these little sketches.

Sketchy stuff...

Just some stuff I never got around to putting up here. Sketches done in between storyboard panels. For work I use Toonboom Storyboard Pro, but when I'm sketching I like to use Sketchbook Pro. Just has a nicer feel to it, like I'm still drawing on paper...if I could remember what that feels like!

Few and far between...

Posts do not come regularly at all these days. Storyboarding life has kept me entirely too busy over the last several months. Not to mention a daughter about to turn 1 year old and that doesn't leave a lot of time for sketches and doodles. Found this rough one from a while ago that it seems I never posted. Seems I rarely have time to clean these things up but I figure I'll get to it one day;) If you're checking it out, hope you all enjoy:)
